En novembre 1916 British Admiralty commande 2 dirigeables les R 33 et R 34

R 33 fut construit par Armstrong Withworth dans le Yorkshire et R 34 par Beardmore pres de Glasgow
Apres la 1e GM le R35 fut le premier dirigeable a traverser l'Atlantique
Ces dirigeables sont une copie améliorée des L 33 Allemands et furent les plus reussis A la fin des années 20 ils passent sous l'autorité de Air Ministry et de la RAF
le R 33 acheva sa carriere avec plus de 735 heures de vol . Il a un accident en 1925 et fut demoli en 1928

R33 was built bt Armstrang Withworth in Yorshire and R 34 by Beardmore near Glasgow
After WW1 R 34 was the 1st Airship to cross Atlantic in July 1919
This Airship were moderatly redesigned version of the German L 33 ans the become the most successful british rigid airship
At the end of 1920 all airship activity was transferred from the Admiralty to Air Ministry and became part of the RAF
R33 achieved a total of 753 flying hours . He has an accident in 1925 and ht was dismantled in 1928
