Le GMC AFKWX-353 est un camion, 2 1/2-Ton, 6x6 (G508) produit à partir de 1942 . Il resta en service jusque dans les années 1950. Il partage de nombreuses pieces avec le GMC CCKW, mais c'était un camion distinct
Il faut fabriqué à environ 7.200au total. Il ressemble au CCKW mais il poss_de une cabine avancée ( Cab-Over-Engine COE) Ce concept ( plus courte) entraine des modifications. L'empattement était de 2.23m . et la longueur totale était de 6.17 m.
Les premiers camions AFKWX-353 étaient équipés d'une métallique fermée et un plateau en métal long de 5.18 m. Par la suite la cabine se transforma en cabine torpedo en bois.
En 1944, le modèle a été modifiée en rallongeant le châssis et il recu le doux nom de baptème de M-427. La version torpédo pouvaitr recevoir une Mitraille de défense anti aérienne monté sur son arceau.

The GMC Model AFKWX-353 Truck, 2 1/2-Ton, 6x6 (G508) was produced starting in 1942 and was in use until the 1950s. It shared many parts with the GMC CCKW, but was a distinct truck with about 7,200 manufactured in total. It's driveline was largely the same as the CCKW but the shorter, Cab-Over-Engine (COE) design required some parts changes. The wheelbase was 2.23m. and the overall length was 6.17m.
Early production AFKWX-353 trucks had a closed metal cab and metal 5.18 m long cargo bed. Later production had an open, military style cab and wooden cargo bed. In 1944, the design was changed by making the chassis and bed In final form, the designation was changed to M-427. The open cab variant could be fitted with a machine gun on a ring mount.
The GMC Model AFKWX-353 truck was powered by the GMC 270 cu. in. in-line 6 cyl. 91.5 bhp engine mated to a five speed transmission and two speed transfer case
